Shu Moriyama spent years as a collaborator at Yohji Yamamoto before launching his own label, working from Normandy, his adopted home, where the wide, quiet landscapes inform the delicate, unhurried quality of his work. His collections draw on the full depth of Japanese textile heritage, reaching beyond kimono into traditions less explored, translated through asymmetric silhouettes, generous volumes, and crinkled fabrics that pleat and gather around the body. Inspiration arrives from nature — trees, flowers, petals — abstracted into surface and form rather than literal reference. Clothing designed with a hidden elegance, made to move with people rather than be noticed.
